Inspiration at the Hot Springs

There is a reason why I have posted anything recently. It’s not because I’ve gotten lazy and haven’t done any writing recently. It’s because I’m dead tired. I’m actually on a trip in the beautiful Hokkaido, Japan, touring all the snow festivals around the island. I’m on a tour so they run us from place to place all day long, so by the time we finally get to our hotel for the night, all I want to do is fall on to bed and go to sleep, dinner be damned.

As fast paced as it is, and as tired as I am by the end of the day, I’m still having the time of my life. So tonight we’re staying at a Onsen in Noboribetsu, and me being a huge anime fan just keeps looking around and getting these great ideas. If I were a mangaka I would be in heaven.

But I’m actually a huge Detective Conan fan (or Case Closed in America). Being here reminds me of the Hot Spring episodes where they go on a onsen trip and suddenly there’s a murder and they have to go running around the onsen trying to solve it. I’m not saying I would want anything bad to happen while I’m here, but it does get the wheels turning. I hate anything suspenseful so I would be an awful mystery writer, but the onsen is definitely a great setting for a murder mystery. Maybe one day, it might even be something worth trying.

Isn’t this empty hallway insprining? If I could have gotten a shadowy figure to stalk across the picture at the end of the hall, it would have made it even better. Bwahhaahaa!

What inspires you?
